| Well, Its been longer than a month. I guess I can update again. Last night was Jeff Thomas's 21st birthday. We had a scavenger hunt for him and at each clue there was a shot. The poor old boy didn't even see what was coming. He was a trooper though. One way to pass out drunk on your 21st. Another way is to pass out on your 21st and wake up for an exam at 10:00. Kudos to Jeff.
I'm working at Amnesty International now. Well interning at least. The work is dull but when put into the bigger picture the work is worth it. I never realized that Amnesty was so active here in the states, let alone in the Midwest. Its amazing what you learn.
I'm applying for the Foreign Service Officer Exam. The test date is in April. Wish me luck. Hopefully with this exam I will be able to forget the disasterous LSASTs!
Leona's is still going well. I"m working there less but that is only due to the increased class schedule, Amnesty International required hours, and UIC 25th annual Fashion Show around the corner. Hopefully after this semester it will have all paid off. The workers at Leona's are getting along peachy keen. It seems more and more at least 2 workers are fighting at all times there. I blame it on this insane Chicago weather.
And that's about it. Sorry nothing too exciting. But if you want to know more you can either ask or you were there to see it all happen. Well tune in later at the same time and the same station. Signing off. | | |
| Hey ya’ll! Okay so who predicted that I was going to be absolutely horrible when it came to updating? You were right, big surprise! Well here are the updates since October. Stay with me ‘cuz I’m going to fly through them. First we will start with LSATs. Simply stated, I’m now going to study for the GREs, I’m going to go to grad school first. Wisconsin was lots of fun. We drank lots of beer and played lots of drinking games. The cabin was great. The view was to die for. If I knew how to get pictures onto my computer I would show you guys, but well, I’m not so good with the computers. You guys should know this by now. I didn’t end up going to Iowa. I had to stay here and work. My best friend, Jillian, forgave me though. And now the more recent stuff. The semester is over with. I did well. Could have done better but I’m not too upset about it. Frankie came home for the holidays. I got to spend time with him. He and I are working hard at being friends with each other. That is hard in it’s own way and for it’s own reasons. I got to see his family during the time that I was home too. That was really nice, I miss them. Christmas back at home was nice. My parents are just the same as they always are. I got stabbed in the back by what I thought was a good friend. I won’t mention names. It definitely made me re-evaluate my relationships though, and definitely made me think. And we all know I hate that. I got into a bar fight at Hawkeyes the night before New Years Eve. That was a trip. That you got to talk to me about. Just know that I truly am my mother’s daughter. For New Years I got to Dan’s and that was fun and that brings me up to now. Oh what an exciting life I live. Well for those of you who know what happened, it really is exciting. The rest of ya’ll. You just need to keep in touch more to get all the good details. Tune in next time. This is Jinda signing off. | | |
| Alright so here’s the past week in a nut shell. You guys should appreciate this. Cara and I went down to Florida. Finally got to see Frankie’s house and meet his roommates. They all seem pretty dandy. Nathan (an adorable 3 year old) lives with them. Boy oh boy does that kid have a mouth on him! He put some of the sailors that he lives with to shame. He’s cute none-the-less. So we went to play in the ocean. The ocean kicked our ass. Waves crashing down on me, undertow trying to pull me out to sea, and damn see shells scratching up my knees. And lets talk about the sand here for a minute. I never really realized how many different places on the human body sand could go, I learned…QUICK. The wedding that we went to was definitely interesting. It seriously seemed like the Hatfields and the McCoys were getting hitched. One family was sitting inside refusing to socialize or mingle with the other family that was outside. But all in all good fun. I finally got to watch Butterfly effect. What a good movie. I liked it! And I found a Jetta that I wouldn’t mind driving. I love the 2005 Maximas now. Who knew?!? Then I came home. BOO! Well Monday was uneventful, or was it? I skipped class, went downtown job hunting with the girls. They need jobs, not me. I have two… Still. Then I went to the fashion show meeting. That was truly uneventful, then I came home. Oh home sweet home. “Smile if u want us 2 bang yall” That is all I have to say. Those who know, know those who don’t, don’t need to know. Had an exam on Tuesday. Damn me and my habits! The test, not so good. Oops! Oh well, well worth it. And Now I’m in overdrive. School is kicking my ass. This weekend I’m going to Wisconsin and in November I’m going to Iowa. These will be fun times. Other than these weekends I’m not taking any more vacations until Turkey Day and then of course, Winter break. Tune in next time for more info. | | |
| So Today is the 4th of October and I've never been happier. Yeah, that's right. Lets think about this...LSATs...DONE MOTHER FUCKER!!! You guys will enjoy this story. So I woke up at 6 to go take my LSATS out at BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY in LISLE! Pain in my ass if there ever was one. My daddy drove me, which meant that I couldn't smoke the ENTIRE time he was here. Ha! I snuck a few any way. I'm so sneaky. I got to BU 30 minutes early so I chain smoked 3. Went and took the first 3 sections of the LSATs. Started to doze off during the reading section of the 3rd section. Then came break. Oh glorious break time. I ran outside and chained 2 smokes. Was feeling weak as was so I started to walk inside and to get a sip of water. Next thing I knew THUNK! Yeah that was the sound of my head hitting the glass doors! 3 kind LSAT takers rushed to my assistance and revived me immediately. There was talk of calling the ambulance. HA! I just sat through 2.5 hours of LSATs after studying consistently for 6 weeks. They only was my ass was leaving was 1) when the test was over and I walked out on my own accord or 2) they strapped me down in a gurnee and gave me drugs to knock me out. I was not going to go through the stress of this again. HELL NO! All in all, it was a great day. I finished all my sections on time, I felt confident about the sections when I finished them. What else could a girl ask for? (A 180 on the LSATs?) Then me and my daddy went to go see Ladder 49. Boy oh Boy. I balled! I recommend bringing a kleenex or 15 if you go see it. But ya'll know me. I'm a sap for movies. That's the update. This is Jinda signing off. | | |
| So I've already fallen behind on the whole updating thing. Thanx for pointing that out Cara. So here is the latest update on my life. Work at EAO sux. Although apparently because now I smile at work people think I am friendly and want to talk to them. Worst of all is the people think I want to help them. What do I look like? Some one who works at EAO because they like it? Secondly work at Leona's hasn't been that bad lately. I've actually been making money. Which is a good thing. I need it. I'm poor! School is kicking my ass. But when is it not. I have one exam this week and well lets not get me started on LSATs. Apparently a HUGE potion of the test is based on logical reasoning, and well, lets face it, I'm not logical. Meh. This weekend was interesting and unexpected. I had been planning on going to Dan's apartmeng for the better part of 2 weeks. I already had my outfit planned out and everything. I looked cute. Then the phone call came. Frankie was coming up to Illinois to surprise me. Well I obviously wasn't going to bring him to Dan's party. I may be naive and ignorant but I'm not that blatantly stupid... all the time. We had a good weekend. He got in late Friday night and Cara and I went to go pick him up. Saturday I worked at EAO like the responsible girl that I am and then went downtown shopping for Cara's outfit for the wedding. Frankie ended up picking out the outfit. Who knew the guy could dress? The sad part of the day, a horsy got hurt on Michigan Ave. It was down for a while. We felt so bad for him. Poor horsy. The sadder part of the day, in fact the most traumatising part of it all, the cab ride TO Michigan Ave...I LOST MY CELL PHONE!!! What am I going to do without it? No text messaging capability? Good God! I feel like I"m back in the stone ages. I haven't NOT had a cell phone for the better part of 6 years now! You can't just go and erase that? Honestly, what am I to do? So now I have to go find money and buy a new one! Arg! alright, I'm done with that rant. On to Sunday. It was sad. We all woke up, we all had breakfast, we all ran our errands then Cara and I took Frankie to the airport. Sad day. We actually got along. The I came home and went straight to work at Leona's. But guess what. Hurricane Jeanne had other plans. Frankie's flight got canceled. He came back for another night stay. And oddly enough, the crabby mood he was in magically disappeared. Wierd! Then the LONGEST NIGHT EVER happened. Frankie and I were up till 05.30 AM talking. Then I took him as far as I could go, the L stop on Racine. Cara got woken up to come collect me and well 08.00AM sounds like a good time to sleep right? ha! Who says classes are important. Sleep is more fun. Well, as you can see its been an interesting adventure so far, I can't wait to see what the week has in store, aside from the exam and meetings and work and LSATs! GRRRR! | | |
